Demise of Chief Akanni Aluko: Ladoja, Ige, others throng Aluko’s residence

Hundreds of sympathisers have thronged Monatan, Ibadan residence of Chief Akanni Aluko to commiserate with family over the passage of the patriarch of Aluko dynasty.

Chief Akanni Aluko, the Publisher of the defunct Third Eye Newspaper and philanthropist died Friday morning at the Intensive Care Unit of the University College Hospital (UCH) after a protracted illness.

Among the early callers were the wife of the Osi Olubadan , Sen Rashidi Ladoja , the Agbaaki Iyalode of Ibadanland , Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, Chief Esho Martins , former  Osun state Commissioner for Lands , Architect Muyiwa Ige , and Salami Aina Bolanle amongst others.

At the home of the late Philanthropist, the wife of Chief Aluko , Chief Mrs Kofoworola Aluko, who broke the news of the demise of Aluko was seen with sympathisers consoling the bereaved .

Son of the late Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Architect Muyiwa Ige in his short condolence message said: “A great man has transited to the great beyond; Will miss your wonderful monthly text messages. May God grant your soul sweet repose. And may He comfort the rest of the family. Rest on baba daadaa. Rip Daddy. ”

Also, Salami Aina Bolanle wrote “A great and wonderful daddy is gone, heaven grained a blessed and beautiful son.

Chief Akanni Aluko, who died after a protracted illness, would have marked his 79th birthday on 23 July 2022.

Last year July 23 when Chief Aluko celebrated his 78th birthday, President Muhammadu Buhari recognised Chief Aluko’s passion, support for less privileged and vulnerable in the society.

President Buhari in  a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said: “President Buhari felicitates Chief Akanni Aluko, Publisher of defunct Third Eye Newspaper, as he turns 78 on July 23,2021”.

Buhari also recognised Chief Aluko’s extensive experience in the business world and the media, as well as his contributions to human capital development in the country, which has earned him the respect of his peers and colleagues.
