It was a black Tuesday in Lagos as at least 13 school children are said to have died on Tuesday, December 7th after a truck reportedly ran into them in along Ogunusi Road, Grammar School Bus Stop, Ojodu, Lagos State.

 

The truck was said to have suffered brake failure and rammed into the kids who were just closing from their school.

 

Angry residents set the truck on fire afterward.

 

Meanwhile, Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested the driver of a hit-and-run truck who crushed some pupils along Ogunusi Road, Grammar School Bus Stop, Lagos State.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the arrest of the driver, adding that investigation had commenced into the incident.

 

 

 

“The driver has been arrested. Investigation into the accident is ongoing,” he told reporters.

 

It was earlier reported that the pupils were on their way home after school activities and had wanted to cross the road when the truck ran over them.

 

A mob descended on the driver and reportedly chased him to the Ogba area before the police apprehended him.

 

 

 

The mob, comprising angry youths, clashed with policemen at the scene who tried to maintain law and order.

 

It was also gathered that emergency responders including operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency turned back from the scene in the ensuing riot.

 

The incident grounded vehicular movement as motorists deserted the road and stranded commuters trekked long distances.

 

In another development, At least  six persons including an armed robbery suspect,  school children lost their lives  in Umuaka, a community  in Njaba LGA of Imo State during  an exchange of fire between a gang of   armed robbery  suspects and soldiers of the Nigerian Army

 

 

According to the an eye witness acount  the armed robbery  gang were said to have stormed the popular  Afor Umuaka Market in the community  on Tuesday to robb the traders at the market   but were quickly resisted by  the Soldiers on patrol in the area

 

 

The eye witness, said that the  Soldiers were immediately alarted  when the robbery  gang attempted  to operate at the market

 

However,  following the  intervention of the soldiers,  the armed robbery  suspects ran  away abandoning their dead colleague.

 

It was further gathered that the Soldiers went after the armed robbers to a point at Oba junction in Isu Local Government Area of the State where they had the  gun battle.

 

Following the sporadic shooting according to information arising  from the duel gun battle, a suspected armed robber and five other innocent citizens including school children from the localities were left dead.

 

When contacted the spokesman of the Imo State Police Command CSP Michael Abraham, said that he is yet to get the report  and  promised to get back to the press
