ASUU STRIKE NOTICE….Federal Lawmaker harps on Dialogue with FG to save the Career of Nigerian youths

Sequel to the Strike Notice served on the Federal Government by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Federal Lawmaker representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency  Ebonyi State in the House of Representatives Hon Anayo Edwin Nwonu.  has urged the Authorities to dialogue with Union to avert disruptions in the education system.
Hon Nwonu made the appeal at the weekend  in a Statement signed by him and made available to newsmen.
The Federal Lawmaker who doubles as the Chairman House of Representative Committee  on Reformatory Institutions,  reiterated that peaceful resolutions of the impending Strike Action would save the career of Nigerian youths.
“In  reference to the strike notice served the Federal Government by ASUU, I hereby call on both the Federal Government and the Union to hold  patriotic and fair dialogue in order to avert another trade dispute”
” ASUU Strike which translates to a major disruption of our academic calendar as well as the careers of our youths”
The Chairman House Committee on Reformatory Institutions emphasized that amicable resolution of issues is necessary to ensure smooth academic programme.
“The call is necessary because the epileptic implementation of the academic calendar of our University System  arising from intermittent ASUU Strike over the years have drastically reduced the quality of our education and affected the functionality of graduates of Nigerian universities”
“In the same vein, the psychological impact of strikes on our youths is frustrating,  this frustration in turn snowball! Into youth restiveness witnessed across the country”
“This  fact ultimately contributes to the security challenge prevalent in all nooks and crannies of the country today”
Hon Edwin-Nwonu advised members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to be fair and realistic in their demands in view of the economic realities in the country.
“I appeal to ASUU to be mindful of the fact that there are things the government should do which the economic situation in the country cannot permit now”
The Federal Lawmaker made a passionate appeal to both the Federal Government and ASUU to factor the interest of youths  as well as the realities in our country.
