A member of the House of Representatives for Akure North and South Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Hon. Derin Adesida, has reiterated his commitment to the service of his constituents.

Adesida spoke during a meeting in Akure where he gave report of his stewardship within his one year as member representing the federal constituency.

Selected members of the APC, 10 members per ward from Akure South and North federal constituency attended the parley with Party Executives in attendance.

The lawmaker while addressing the gathering said: “I sincerely appreciate you for coming to this meeting despite the fact that the notice was so short. It was awhile we bring ourselves together like this after the last year inaugural Thanksgiving at Dome.

“The motive of this meeting is to give back our activities so far within one year to you and also, to create an opportunity for interaction on the progress of our constituency”.

Adesida said he has influenced six federal appointments in the FRSC as House Committee chairman, FRSC and process of many other names for more appointments at the federal level is in progress.

Also, over 700 of solar street lights in Akure South and some part of Akure North, Oba Ile,  Bolorunduro, Alayere and Ayede Ogbese had been erected. What is delaying the installation in other areas of Akure North is the ongoing road construction in the area.

The lawmaker also alluded to the daily demands for financial assistance as a result of the present economic hardship in the country which he decided not to publicize.

He, however, apologized for his inability to pick calls and replying texts immediately, which he attributed this to the hectic job of law making.

Adesida said:”I want to apologise to our people who complain that I don’t usually pick their calls or reply their texts. They should not be offended; it was as a result of legislative activities. Many times, we were engaged in legislative meetings and oversight functions. And I’d moved over 20 motions and sponsored four Bills. One of which is the establishment of University of Agriculture in Akure”.

The Party Vice chairman, Central Senatorial District Hon. Festus Aregbesola applauded Adesida for his robust representation and consistency in influencing job opportunity for the youths of the federal constituency.

He however implored him not to relent, while reminding the gathering that over 200 young people employed by the Nigerian Custom service through the lawmaker are now senior officers.

Aregbesola therefore appealed to the people to cooperate and give him time to do more.

Party chieftains present at the meeting include Akure south LG chairman, Chief Fesobi Akinmolayan and his Akure North counterpart, Hon. Atanniyi, Commissioner for Infrastructure, Barr. Gbenga Olaniyi, Youth and Sport Commissioner, Hon. Saka Yusuf, among several others.
