Sanwo-Olu:  Abductors of Fouani Brothers’ ll be brought to book

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu has given the assurance the state would ensure those behind the kidnapping of the three Fouani brothers are apprehended and brought to book.

The Police had on Tuesday disclosed that the three Fouani brother were rescued on the waterways.

Sanwo-olu who said he has met with the freed Lebanese at their residence at Banana Island, added that the kidnappere have sent a wrong signal to the state, noting that the perpetrators of the abduction of the Labenese won’t go scot free.

The Governor stated that contrary to some reports that they were kidnapped somewhere in Marina, he explained that the kidnapping took place on the high sea.

“We are on top of it, security operatives are combing  everywhere, it is a top signal, Lagos will not condone it.”

Sanwo-olu  said this when the leadership of Baptist convention led by its African  President Rev.(Dr) Israel Akanbi paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Alausa, Ikeja.

The Governor also charged all religious leaders to ensure  they play their role,so that government can bring good governance to the people, saying they are stakeholders in government and urged them to always play their role as expected of them.

The Governor maintained that they have a crucial role to play in government and they should ensure there is a symbiotic communication between them and government.

Reverend Akanbi earlier in his speech told the Governor that, the leaders of the church across the globe shall be having their annual gathering in Lagos at Eko Hotels and Suites in July, 2024 and that Lagos was chosen as the venue because of the relative peace in the state.

Akanbi also commended the state Governor for the role he is playing to ensure relative peace in the state, just as he appreciated him for the palliative measure introduced by his administration to cushion the effect of hardship experienced by Nigerians as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.

Responding, Sanwo-olu said, it took a concerted effort to improve the security in the state, he also assured the leadership of the Baptist convention that, the state would do everything to ensure that the leaders of the church coming from across the globe to the state enjoys their stay.

He said the state shall give them security and  financial assistance and make sure the visitors enjoy the charity of the state.”We will support you so that your visitors have long lasting experience in Lagos,” Sanwo-olu said.
