Stakeholders seek take-off grants for new Ondo LCDAs

Ahead of the commencement of operation at the newly-created Local Council Development Areas(LCDAs) in Ondo State, an appeal has gone to the state government to provide take-off grant to guarantee better performances.

Many residents in the new LCDAs expressed the need to have sufficient funds to make the new Development Areas live up to expectations particularly in the rural areas.

An Ise-Akoko Northeast community leader, Prince Adekunle Omola, described the creation of Isowopo LCDA from the present Akoko Northeast Local Government as the greatest thing to happen in the community as it would make governance coming closer to the grassroots populace.

The new LCDA comprises Ugbe, Iboropa, Ise, Auga, Akunu and Ikakumo communities with headquarters at Ise-Akoko.

A monarch, the Alauga of Auga, Oba Samuel Agunloye, assured government of peaceful and harmonious working relationship with various communities to make the new Development Areas functional.

A political analyst and Asiwaju of Ifira- Akoko, Chief Boboye Ojomo, lauded Ondo State government for creating more local councils.

He, however, sought for adequate funding, autonomy and staffing for the new offices, which if not look into, might affect the laudable programme.

Ojomo appealed to Ondo State government to make sure that the take-off grants were given to the newly-created LCDAs for optimum performances.
