Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’Aziz Yari, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC), will retain power in Nigeria well beyond the 2031 general elections.
Yari, who was recently appointed Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, made the statement on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, soon after returning to the country.
He was received by a crowd of supporters and party members, who gathered to welcome him back from an overseas trip.
The senator expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure a second term in 2027, citing progress recorded by the administration so far.
“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promises we made during the campaign, we shall keep to our promises,” Yari said, adding, “Today, we have seen him as President, and by God’s grace, he shall be the President come 2027.”
He said the crowd at the airport came out to pray for him and for the success of the President and the party.
According to Yari, the APC’s strength lies in its commitment to fulfilling campaign pledges and delivering tangible results to Nigerians.
“Our party is synonymous with keeping to our words,” he said and added, “We pray that Almighty Allah will give him the wisdom to lead this country.”
The former governor assured that the Tinubu administration would continue to work on delivering all the commitments made during the 2023 election campaign.
He further predicted that the APC would remain Nigeria’s ruling party even after President Tinubu’s second term.
“We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfill all our campaign promises. We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term in 2031,” Yari said.
His comments came a few days after his appointment to head the APC’s campaign machinery for the 2027 presidential election.
Political observers say Yari’s remarks signal the party’s early push to consolidate support and project continuity ahead of the next electoral cycle.
