UNICEF hails release of 21 abducted children

…Promises to assist Katsina with psycho-social support

The United Nation’s Children Fund (UNICEF) has expressed satisfaction over the release of the 21 children abducted at a farm in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state, north west of the country.

It said the freedom of the children abducted recently, was a relief to the parents and the country as a whole.

UNICEF, in a statement signed by  Safiya Yoba Akau, the communication ( Advisory, media and external affairs, commended the authorities for the action taken to release the kidnapped children who were rescued last Saturday.

According to the statement, “the release of all the abducted 21 children – 17 girls and four boys – is pleasant news to us all parents, caregivers, community leaders, everyone.

“These children shouldn’t have been kidnapped in the first place because no one, especially children, should be a target for abduction or violence of any kind”,.

UNICEF, in the statement promised to support the Katsina State Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Development to provide psycho-social support to the rescued children to help them recover from the trauma and reintegrate into society.

UNICEF had supported many countries, states and communities in issues that effected the survival of children globally.
