The governorship candidate of Accord party in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has said that his investment plan for the state will improve its economy.
Dr. Ogunbiyi who decried the state of Osun’s economy said he is contesting the position of the governor due to the citizens’ suffering.
He spoke during a courtesy visit to Journalists at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press center in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Accompanied by his deputy governor candidate, Alhaji Kunle Jimoh who is a retired journalist, Ogunbiyi said the mining sector will be heavily explored and gold investment will be restructured.
Speaking on empowerment of youths, he said over 100,000 jobs will be created as the economy will be well maximised.
He said, “I am into oil and gas, also micro finance bank industries which has won several awards due to its impacts. I have created wealth in a sustainable way.
“We need to grow the economy through our natural resources. Gold can earn us trillions of naira, why sell our to the resources to Chinese?
“I will restructure our mining investment and Standardise it. See how they polluted our Osun-Osogbo river in the process of mining, yet People drink the harmful water. Our investment plan will restructure it. I desire to be a governor because of the suffering of my people.
He urged the people to vote for him for a better Osun and new beginning in the state.
Corroborating his plans, Alh. Jimoh said Accord party will look into the payment of pensioners of which he has been deprived of since his retirement from active service in 2020.
He added that the health care centers would be well equipped and functional while the local government will have their autonomy and proper election conducted for the selection of Chairmen and Councillors.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of NUJ, Osun State Council, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu commended the governorship candidate for choosing a Journalist as his deputy.
He pledged the union’s support and urged the party to stick to their good promises of making Osun better if elected.
