Seven presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC have stepped down for the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
They include Ajayi Borroffice, Gov Badaru Abubarkar, Godswill Akpabio, Dimeji Bankole, Ibukunle Amosun, Kayode Fayemi and Barrister Mrs Uju Ohanenye
Similarly, Nicholas Felix another aspirant stepped down for Vice-president Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
The former minister of state for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba did not show up to make his speech.
The rest of the of aspirants however chose to contest the election.
Speaking at the occasion, Bola Tinubu described himself as a unifier and the one the moment in the country calls for.
While commending other aspirants for conducting what he described as a decent campaign, he said the competition will eventually make the party strong.
He asked the delegates to nominate him based on his experience, record of achievements and his ability to deliver good governance.
On his own, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, told the gathering that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has laid foundation for the progress of the country, and if he is given opportunity he will builead on the achievements.
“I am running for the office of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because this party has been built well around ideas which we all share.
“I will appeal to you that you elect someone that achievements so far by this administration are consolidated.”

Pastor Tunde Bakare on his own said,
“I am not here to step down for anybody. I am here to step up in my aspiration to be the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Former governor of Rivers State Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi called on the delegates to “Assess us by what we have done not by how much we bring here. Ask those who bring money, what is the source of your income.”
Former governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha said, “For those who are aspiring, it is government money that they are spending. It is government money that they are spending, if they give you money, take it. I Rochas Okorocha created wealth before I came into government.”
Also speaking, Vice president Osibanjo asked the delegates to make right choice as delegates have the duty to save Nigeria.
“You can not wish this country well and vote for someone you do not believe. That vote you have carried the answer of the prayers you prayed for your children and the future of our country.”
Meanwhile, the vote casting commenced after midnight with 15 aspirants cleared to participate after 8 others have withdrawn their aspirations.
