2023 : Obi is contesting as detribalized Nigerian democrat not for Igbo President – Udechukwu

Satisfied with the rising profile of the Labour Party, LP, Presidential candidate, in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, an Onitsha, Anambra State, based legal practitioner, Barr. Humphrey Udechukwu, said Wednesday, that Obi, as a good manager of people, money and resources, was contesting as a detribalized Nigerian democrat and not to be Igbo President.

Fielding questions from newsmen in his chamber, Udechukwu reiterated that with the introduction of the electronic voting system, he has an edge over other presidential candidates who would rely on rigging the election.

“Days are gone when you think you can buy people’s conscience with money. This electronic transfer of results by INEC, I am very grateful  to National Assembly, for it. Whether it is done by commission or omission.

“I must give kudos to National Assembly, INEC and the electorate. It is a good omen. Before now you don’t need to go and vote because results have been written. But now there is no way they can do magic . More people now have their PVCs than before. When we say we need you, it is through our votes”

“Obi has been a friend, he is a democrat and if it were to be in the Western world, he will be called upon to become the President. He is always very careful when it comes to do with money.”

On the issue of religious politics, he lamented that Nigerians are very sensitive when it comes to religion and tribe, adding that, “We need Christian-Muslim ticket as a circular Nation for the unity of the country.”

Asked on President Mohammadu Buhari’s possible influence to manipulate the election, he stated that, “President Buhari has nothing to lose, he has gotten all he wants as a human being. Government can not maneuver the results now, masses still have the final say, especially with the electronic voting system”.

On Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s effort to restore the lost glory of the State, he expressed satisfaction saying that, “I thank Soludo for his doggedness, boldness and determination, things have not been easy, especially on security.

“From what we are seeing, things are getting better than before, especially on the security of lives and property, we thank God for him”. END.
