2023: Moslem, Moslem Ticket, not acceptable-South East Youth

Following the recent decision and subsequent announcement that the presidential flag bearer of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahamed Tinubu has finally settled for Moslem, Moslem Ticket by picking Senator Shettima as his running mate for the election, groups and individuals have been reacting to the development

According to a youth group based in Owerri Imo state capital, ” this arrangement of a ticket of one religion is unacceptable to us in the South East geo political Zone”

In a statement issued few hours  after the official statement by the presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, Sunday, the youth group insisted that the ticket cannot work since Nigeria as a country remains a circular state

The statement signed by the National Chairman of the group, Comrd Chimaobi Good luck Emezie and the secretary, Miss Josephine Adaoha Udeh, further stated that if allowed, the ticket would create political trouble for the country

It therefore urged Nigerians to reject the ticket and go for the ticket that will ensure and maintain the indivisibility of the country

According to it, ” this clearly proves the speculation that Nigeria is on the verge of being turned in to a country of one religion at all cost”

Also reacting, a notable politician in Imo state, Chief Godwin Eze Ohadomere, opined ” it will be unfair to other religions practiced in the country and a very bad precedence for the political development of the country

He urged Nigerians to consider the interest of one another in deciding who becomes the next president of the country so that the unity of Nigeria will be maintained
