2023 Elections: Focus on Insecurity : Cleric urged Politicians.

The Arch Bishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Reverend Ignatius  Kaigama has urged Politicians to focus more on Insecurity when elected into office come 2023 General Elections.

 

He stated this during the thanks giving service of Rev. Father  Paul Kangkani on his Twenty Five years of Priesthood and Fifty years of birth which took place at the Church of Assumption, Kona Garu Village, Jallingo Local Government Area.

 

“It is a fact today that things are not normal, i am sure that even President Mohammadu Buhari, Governors and all those in Authority are aware of this.

 

“One is afraid to go to the Market, Farm and on our Roads, the Security issue most be tackle with seriousness  and the best people to do this are the elected government at all levels.

 

He said that during campaigns, politicians  promise people that they will be there for them, but latter abundant them.

 

“This is the time to be there for them.

 

Bishop Kaigama  urged the government at all levels to offer employment to the timing  youths of the Country for the Country to have relative peace and also sleep peaceful in their homes.

 

“The 2023 General Elections should focus on Insecurity in the Country.

 

He added that the poor people finds lives misrable and terrible to couple with.

 

“I know what i am talking about because my work as a Religious leader, takes me to the poor people. My office witness  large number  of people whom are mostly poor who come with one complain or the other ranching from sickness, Hunger, Rent and many other things, so i know the reality of poor people.

 

“Politicians tell us that the Economic is improving or doing well, i ask what is the definition of doing well, because the prices of things in the markets are very high. The prizes of Maize, Rice, Corn and others keep on rising everyday beyond a poor man.

 

“Until i see the number of people coming to my Office reducing before i can believe that the Economy has or is  improving.

 

“President Mohammadu Buhari call farmers to go back to Farm, but the Insecurity in the Country have make the call by the President not to yield any result. I know farmers in the village whom are afraid of going to Farm. A woman a lone was attacked in the farm, tell me how they will have confidence to go to farm.

 

Bishop Kaigama call on governments to put appropriate measures in place to enable farmers go to their farms for the Nation to have enough foods.

 

He gave reasons for the Insecurity in the country as marginalization and lack of equity in distribution of amenities to the people and Corruption.

 

“When People feel that they are been marginalize, problem starts leading to agitations that can turn violent, but when there is equity things are distributed same.

 

“Corruption is another factor for Insecurity in the country. Somebody gets allocation to help poor people, Construct Roads, Build Schools or Hospitals, Contracts Inflated or not even done. This brings disaffection and people agitate into protest, leading to so many destructions.

 

“Let me an example, If there is an Interview, you just locate the positions to a certain group of people thereby favoring  them. Just allow everybody to scramble and get it by merit, but such is not done. If you know somebody, you will get, but if you dont know anybody, you will not get or it will take the grace of God to get.

 

He thanked the  Jukun Kona People for their support to  the celebrant, Rev. Farther Paul  Kangkni  during his Training and service both at home and in diaspora. He described the Celebrant  as Young, Energetic and a man that has passion to serve God with all his mind.

 

He call on Jukun Kona People to engage dialogue as means of solving problems instead of resolving to taking weapons against neighbors, which according to him have been co existing for decades.

 

“Use dialogue to solve any form of disputes or problems rather than fighting each other.

 

“Dont allow people to instigate you to take up weapons against yourself or your neighboring tribes that you have been co existing for decades.

 

“We should all go back to our normal way of life as it was in years back – he said.

 

In his words of exaltations, Rev. Father Abraham Yahaya described the Celebrant as hard working and dynamic person.

 

“I thanked God for the life of Rev. Fr. Kangkni, keep it up, we the Younger ones are  following you.

 

He said that he enjoyed the teachings of Rev, Fr. Kangkni  during  his studies  in the Seminary.

 

“I was enjoying his lectures when he was my lecturer at the Seminary. We use to call him “Paul the News teller” for he always give us current happenings when he comes to the Lecture hall.

 

He congratulated Fr. Paul Kangkni for clocking Twenty Five Years of Priesthood  and Fifty Years of birth.

 

“The Sky is not your limit but your starting point, once more Congratulations.

 

He use the forum to encourage believers to maintain  and be proud of their Baptismal names, adding that some only use the name during the Baptismal period and after that, they go back to their guy names.

 

He urged believers to be more serious and committed to serving God when they are been baptized.

 

He pointed out lack of mentorship as a major problem.

 

“We are loosing mentorship not  only in Kona land, but in Taraba State as a whole. Leaders today are not mentoring our Youths. Some dont even want to go to their village or proud of their villages, while some dont want to take other people tp their villages – he said.

 

In his Remarks, the Chief of Jukun Kona Chiefdom, KURU Augustine Njemang Vengkani  congratulated the celebrant for clocking Twenty Five Years of service in God vineyard and Fifty years of  Birth.

 

He thanked Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for bringing the Chiefdom to light and upgrading it to Second Class Status, adding that the Chiefdom have been depress for many years and been denied upbringing.

 

“The Kona Chiefdom has clock over Fourty Two Years of existence, but was not brought to light, it is at this tenure of Governor Darius Ishaku that it was brought to light. We sought seriously for the upbringing of the Chiefdom along with seven district heads and thank God that the Governor approve  and upgraded it to 2nd Class in 2017. We will never forget this day and Governor Ishaku in the coming One Hundred Years – he said.

 

In his remarks, the Celebrant, Reverend Father Paul Kangkni appreciated Members both at home and in diaspora for their support and contributions in one way or the other during his services in various capacities and places and Doctorate Degree programme.

 

“I want to appreciate God for taking me to this time to serve in his vineyard for the past Twenty Five Years and Fifty Years of Birth, i really appreciate him.

 

He use the forum to urged people to compliment  government efforts in tackling security challenges facing the country.

 

“There are issues that need to be address such as poverty and constitutional issues that when level out together, it will raise developmental society.

 

“Our job as religious leaders is to see that people keep practicing their faith and cooperate or assist government to enact policies that will give equal opportunity to all.

“Nigeria for the past Twenty Five Years have been experiencing one problem or the other.

 

He disclose that the biggest Challenge he has faced while carrying out his official job is that of  Security, because he has been attacked by armed robbers and have to flee certain places due to terrorist attack.

“I call on politicians to play according to the rules of the game and allow people to choose whom they want to lead them.
