We will resist imposition of cattle colony in Igboland -Ohanaeze Ndigbo youths

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths World wide has deplored the planned opening grazing reserves across some states in Nigeria and vowed to resist such development in Igboland.
The Ohanaeze Youth position was disclosed in a press release issued and signed by its National Publicity Secretary,Mazi Chika Art Adiele and available newsmen.
The group expressed indignation that “Despite the overwhelming rejection to create a Cattle Colonyby the majority of Ndigbo, President Mohammadu Buhari, has approved the recommendation of a committee with dispatch for the opening of 368 grazing sites across 25 states, vide a press release by Femi Adesina, on August 19th, 2021”

“It is a well known fact that Cattle rearing is a personal enterprise, like the business of motor spare parts,”the youths fumed.

Nigeria as a pluralistic society is at a critical juncture, ordinarily, one would have expected Mr President, to be emotionally sensitive and responsive to the yeanings and aspirations of each component units,” the youths lamented.”

The youths averred that “Ndigbo, are agrarian people and most of our rural dwellers are predominantly farmers.

It is an invitation for anarchy to insist on creating a Cattle Colony as events over the past years, has left trails of blood and sorrow over the illegal activities of these so-called Fulani pastoralists across the length and width of our nation. ”

“The question remains; When Did Cattle Herding Became a National Policy? the Youths demanded.

“We are aware that most Southern States has promulgated an act prohibiting open grazingnand in which the 1976 Land Use Act, vested “exclusive”powers to the state government. ”

“We strongly condemn any attempt to impose on us Cattle Colony against our wish,”the group declared

They therefore, called on President Mohammadu Buhari, to rescind his decision on this obnoxious policy.
