Ugboaja’s death huge loss to labour movement — NSITF MD

‌‌‌‍‌‍‌The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has described the death of Nigeria Labour Congress’ (NLC) General Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Ugboaja, as a huge loss to the labour movement.

In a statement on Friday, NSITF Managing Director Oluwaseun Faleye said late Ugboaja was a committed labour leader.

The statement was signed and issued by NSITF’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Alex in Abuja.

Falaye described the late labour leader as an articulate advocate for Nigerian workers and patriot who served with dignity, passion and unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare.

He said that Ugboaja stood firmly for the rights and dignity of labour throughout his tenure as general secretary of NLC.

“He was a bridge-builder, a voice of reason and a dependable partner in the pursuit of protection for all workers,” Faleye said.

The NSITF boss also described Ugboaja as a brilliant lawyer and astute administrator, whose contributions to workers’ welfare and social justice would be greatly missed.

“While we celebrate his life of service, courage and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian worker, his legacy of advocacy and integrity will endure,” he said.

Faleye said Ugboaja’s death was a painful loss to the labour movement, adding that his dedication to advancing workers’ rights had left an enduring mark.

“On behalf of the board, management and staff of NSITF, we commiserate with the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, his team, the bereaved family and entire labour movement,” he said.

He prayed Almighty God to grant Ugboaja’s soul eternal rest and give his family, colleagues and associates the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
