The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13, Ukpo, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawye, has commended the Anambra State Police Command for its sustained operational successes in the fight against kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence and other forms of organised criminality in the state.
AIG Dantawye gave the commendation recently, during an operational visit to the Anambra State Police Command, Awka, where he reviewed the Command’s security posture, ongoing operations and crime-fighting strategies.
During the briefing, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, presented the Command’s operational scorecard for the past one month, revealing that three kidnapped victims had been rescued, while 57 suspects were arrested in connection with various serious offences.
According to the CP, the Command also recovered 18 assorted firearms and 43 rounds of ammunition, while a criminal camp was destroyed as part of intensified efforts to disrupt criminal networks operating in the state.
CP Nnanna attributed the achievements to sustained intelligence gathering, proactive policing, targeted tactical operations, strategic deployment and pressure on identified criminal networks by the Command’s tactical units, Area Commands and Divisional formations.
He said the operations were also strengthened through collaboration with sister security agencies and other critical stakeholders.
The Commissioner assured that the Command would sustain its offensive against criminal elements, stressing that intelligence development, precision deployment, aggressive patrols, rapid response and the destruction of criminal hideouts would remain central to its operational strategy.
He directed operational commanders and personnel to remain proactive and vigilant, while continuously reviewing and adapting their deployment strategies to emerging crime patterns and intelligence.
CP Nnanna further vowed that the Command would continue to deny criminal elements freedom of action and make the state increasingly hostile to kidnapping, armed robbery, cult violence and other organised crimes.
In his remarks, AIG Dantawye described the Command’s operational results as encouraging, charging officers and men to build on the gains through discipline, professionalism, courage, effective supervision and strict adherence to the rule of law.
The Zone 13 Police boss placed particular emphasis on intelligence gathering and utilisation, directing personnel to deepen their intelligence networks, strengthen community engagement and ensure that actionable information is promptly translated into operational interventions.
He equally charged commanders to intensify the fight against kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug-related offences and other violent crimes, while ensuring that all operations are conducted professionally, lawfully and with due regard for human rights.
AIG Dantawye also stressed the importance of public confidence in policing, urging personnel to maintain respectful and responsive relationships with members of the public.
He noted that credible intelligence and community cooperation remained critical force multipliers in modern policing.
The operational visit, according to the Command, further reinforced the commitment of Zone 13 Police leadership and the Anambra State Command to intelligence-led policing, sustained operational pressure and coordinated action against criminal elements.
The Command expressed appreciation to Ndi Anambra, traditional rulers, community leaders, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), civil society organisations and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation.
It urged members of the public to sustain information-sharing with the police and other security agencies to facilitate timely interventions against criminal activities.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, disrupting criminal networks and maintaining public order, while assuring law-abiding residents that it would continue to deploy all lawful operational resources at its disposal to keep Anambra safe.
