Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has inaugurated newly constructed and remodelled facilities at the 3 Battalion Headquarters and Sector I of the Nigerian Army in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, in a move aimed at strengthening operational capacity and deepening civil–military collaboration.
The facilities, unveiled on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, comprise 13 newly constructed offices at the 3 Battalion Headquarters and the remodelling of 22 offices at the Sector I facilities, all within the Effurun Barracks.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi said the project underscored the importance of collaboration between public and private institutions in achieving sustainable security.
“Experience across the world has shown that sustainable security cannot be delivered by one institution acting alone.
It thrives where there is effective collaboration between public and private institutions,” Pondi said, noting that this principle formed the foundation of Tantita’s security strategy.
He explained that since Tantita’s engagement by NNPC Limited in August 2022 to protect Nigeria’s critical energy infrastructure, the company had worked closely with government security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army, to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage.
According to him, the commissioning of the facilities went beyond infrastructure development, representing an investment in personnel welfare, capacity building and operational effectiveness.
“These facilities are designed to improve coordination, enhance operational readiness and support the welfare of officers and men who put their lives on the line in service to our great nation,” he said.
Pondi added that the project, executed as part of Tantita’s corporate social responsibility, reflected the company’s belief that effective security must be supported by a conducive environment that promotes efficiency, dignity and professionalism.
He disclosed that the project, which commenced in August 2025, was completed within record time, demonstrating the value of effective public–private partnerships.
“As Nigeria continues to strengthen its energy security, partnerships such as this will remain essential.
Tantita remains committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability, collaboration and service in support of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies,” he stated.
The Tantita boss expressed appreciation to key stakeholders, including NNPC Limited, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Project Management Office, host communities, and security agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force, as well as Tantita staff, for their roles in the successful execution of the project.
He said the company looked forward to deepening partnerships with relevant institutions in the collective pursuit of peace, security and sustainable national development.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, commended Tantita Security Services Limited for its significant contributions to security operations and infrastructural development in the Niger Delta.
The GOC spoke during the inauguration of the Sector I Headquarters, 3 Battalion Headquarters and other completed projects at the Effurun Barracks.
Major General Emekah said the projects aligned with his command philosophy, which emphasises not only operational effectiveness but also administrative efficiency and improved welfare for troops.
“From the onset of my tenure as General Officer Commanding, I have consistently advocated that commanders at all levels must seek to add value to their commission, not only in operational effectiveness but also in administration,” he said.
Also speaking, the Commander, 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Moronfolu Shonibare, expressed gratitude to Tantita’s Managing Director for supporting the construction of the Sector Headquarters.
“I cannot thank the Managing Director of Tantita enough for the efforts in helping us deliver these structures.
The level of support and collaboration between the sector, the battalion and Tantita Security Services in securing our pipelines and curbing oil theft and related crimes is commendable,” he said, noting that the improved security had positively impacted national oil production.
Similarly, the Commanding Officer, 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Major Salman Mohammed, said that upon assuming command in November last year, improving living and working conditions within the barracks was one of his top priorities.
He explained that the decision to renovate the battalion headquarters was informed by the need to promote a people-centred command philosophy, describing troops as the unit’s most valuable asset.
“The General Officer Commanding also charged me to address the dilapidated state of the battalion headquarters.
Today, I am delighted to say that, with support from Tantita Security Services Limited, we have been able to construct and fully furnish a new battalion headquarters,” he said.
