JONAS EZIEKE, Abuja
The House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education Bodies have summoned Prof Ishaq Oloyode, JAMB registrar, mandating him to appear unfaingly before them on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
The registrar had shunned the same invitation 3 consecutive times in the past.
The House Committee Chairman Hon Oforji Oboku, who issued the summon on Wednesday in Abuja, expressed displeasure that heads of government agencies are becoming unaccountable and should be made to be more law-abiding.
The House Committee spokesman said that the House panel had extended three separate invitations to the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer CEO of JAMB and on issues pertaining on accountability in the agency and he refused to appear.
He said that the House Committee is displeased that, instead of the examination body’s chief accounting officer to cause appearance before the committee, he decided to send a representative.
The lawmaker said that the House panel had resolved that the Registrar of JAMB must appear with his team and not be grilled by representation by the committee.
He threatened that the Committee ‘ll invoke the power of the House in section 88 of the 1999 Constitution if the head of the government agency and other officials of the examination body fail to turn up on Tuesday November 4, 2025.
Our correspondent reports that the representative of the JAMB Registrar during the hearing Musbau Bello and other officials of the agency walked out of the committee when he requested that the pressmen should be excused from the meeting and his request was turned down by the committee.
