The Delta State Police Command has recovered a locally made firearm, launched a manhunt for suspected armed robbers and arrested a suspected drug peddler in separate operations in Effurun and Agbor.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
According to the statement, the armed robbery incident occurred at about 5.30am on September 4, when two masked men, armed with a locally made shotgun, broke into the residence of a 48-year-old man in the Charlisco area of NPA Express Road, Effurun.
The victim reportedly confronted one of the suspects carrying the firearm and wrestled with him during the struggle, causing the gun to break.
The second suspect allegedly struck the victim on the forehead before both men fled, abandoning the firearm.

The incident was reported at Ekpan Division at about 6.14am, following which the Divisional Police Officer deployed operatives to the scene.
The police recovered the broken locally made firearm, while the victim was referred to a hospital for medical treatment.
The Command said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects, with efforts ongoing to track them down and bring them to justice.
In a separate operation in Agbor, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 40-year-old woman, Joy Anthony, on September 6.
The police said the arrest followed credible intelligence which led to a covert operation in Agbor at about 5am.
A search warrant was subsequently executed at the suspect’s residence in Agbor-Obi, where quantities of substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered.
The exhibits included Swinol, Tramadol, Codeine, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspect and the recovered exhibits remain in police custody as investigation continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, commended the 48-year-old victim for his courage in confronting the suspected armed robbers.
He assured the victim that the police would continue efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner also urged members of the public with useful information that could assist the police in combating crime to contact the nearest police station or the Command Control Room on 08036684974, 08114895600 or 08025666914.
