Police arrest 8 suspects over kidnap, murder of ex-gov’s father

The Nigerian Police Force in its avowed determination to rid the nation of crimes and all forms of criminalities have arrested and paraded eight suspects over the kidnap and killing of Pa Defwan Dariye the aged father of Jousha Dariye the former executive governor of Plateau State.

 

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Abuja at adjacent Peace Keeping Hall Force Headquarters Annex, the Force Spokesman CP Frank Mba said the eight paraded suspects played key roles in the kidnap and sensless killing of Pa Dariye.

 

The suspects were all arrested through actionable intelligence  by men of the Inspector-General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba’s Intelligence Response Team IRT led by DCP Tunji Disu and his team.

 

The suspects are Jethron Nguyen, Abubakar Mohammed, Dauda Isa, Sunday Ibrahim, Mangut Shumuwa, Henry Amos Titus Eziekel and Ya’u Saidu.

 

It would be recalled that Pa Dariye was kidnapped in 2015 and released by some kidnappers after the family of the late Dariye negotiated and paid huge ransom to his captors.

 

He was however kidnapped again in June 2020 by a gang of eight kidnap kingpins spearhead by Jethron Nguyen 57 and the other seven suspects who later snuffed life out of the aged man after collecting N10 million as ransom.

 

On how the money was shared, some of the suspects confessed to have got N1. 2 million, N1million, N600, 000, N500, 000 and N400, 000 each.

The Police image maker and his deputy Supol Aremu Adeniran while probing the various roles played by the suspects also noted that each of them were paid some part of the ranson.

 

The prime suspect was as quoted to have said that his gang killed the aged man because his son Joshua was former governor and also a senator but did not help any person from his village.

 

He further informed that all of the arrested suspects are from Mushere village in Bokkos local council of the state adding that most crimes are committed by persons close to the victims.

 

Moreover, there was another set of five crime suspects also paraded by the Police team who allegedly were involved in other criminal activities.

 

All the crime suspects he also hinted would soon be arraigned in the nation’s law courts at the conclusion of the investigation by the Police detectives.
