The Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) on Monday celebrated former Vice President of Nigeria, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, as he marked his 72nd birthday, describing him as an icon of humility, patriotism and selfless service.
In a congratulatory message signed by the party’s National Chairman, Interim, Kabiru Turaki, SAN, the PDP said the nation joins family, friends and associates of the Sardaunan Zazzau in thanking Almighty Allah for the gift of his life and years of distinguished public service.
“On behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party and myself, I warmly congratulate His Excellency, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, GCON, former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the occasion of his 72nd birthday,” the statement read.
The party described Sambo as a distinguished statesman and accomplished administrator whose life has been characterized by calmness, integrity and commitment to nation building.
It noted that his leadership style continues to command admiration and respect across political, ethnic and religious divides.
Turaki recalled that Sambo served the country first as Governor of Kaduna State and later as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. During his tenure as Vice President, he worked closely with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
According to the PDP, the former Vice President played a pivotal role in advancing policies and programmes that strengthened democratic governance, expanded critical infrastructure, and helped to reshape Nigeria for the benefit of its citizens.
“As a loyal and steadfast member of our great party, you have remained committed to the ideals and vision of the Peoples Democratic Party,” the statement said and added, “Your unwavering dedication, wisdom and exemplary leadership have continued to inspire party members and Nigerians.”
The party said Sambo’s contributions to governance and party politics remain a reference point for leadership, noting that his gentle mien and consultative approach helped to stabilize the polity during challenging times.
On the occasion of his 72nd birthday, the PDP joined well-wishers in praying for the former Vice President.
Turaki prayed that Almighty Allah grants him continued good health, strength, peace and many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria and humanity.
“Happy 72nd Birthday, Your Excellency. May Almighty Allah continue to bless you with sound health, wisdom, and abundant grace,” the PDP chairman concluded.
