Chairman of the PDP Youth Forum, Jamilu Ali, who doubles as the Gombe Youth Leader, said the youths decided to support Mohammed because he is young and has the capacity to transform the party Ali however appealed to party members and stakeholders to put their differences aside and work together for the stability and growth of the party.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Ali urged stakeholders to sit down at the table and resolve every outstanding matter affecting the party, pointing out that Nigerians still rely on the PDP to provide credible leadership for the nation.

“As the Chairman of the Forum, we stand together to congratulate the new National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed.

We are happy to have this kind of person, especially as a youth. We pledge our full support to help him stabilize the party, reconcile all factions, and create a good environment for the PDP to thrive,” the youth leader said.

He appealed to party elders to give the new Chairman the needed backing, adding, “We beg all our leaders to sheath their swords.

Our interests should be one. Nigerians are waiting for us. Let’s support the new Chairman.”

Ali reaffirmed the youths’ commitment to legality and due process, noting that the recent court ruling that recognized the new leadership must be respected.

“There is no party constitution above the Nigerian Constitution. The outgoing chairman himself respected the rule of law. The court has ruled clearly, and we must abide by it.”

While emphasising the central role of young people in rebuilding the PDP, he added that, “As youths, we are the backbone of society.

No community can grow without the participation of its youth. Our new acting chairman is youth-friendly, and we are ready to support him in using that energy to restructure and unite the party.”

The PDP Youth Leader and Secretary from Cross River State, Comrade Brian Odion, also added his voice by emphasising unity within the party.

“Those at the higher level have their way of resolving issues. We believe PDP is one, there is no faction,” Odion said adding.“We are on the side of those saying, ‘let’s do the right thing.’
