The All Progressives Congress, (APC), governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has faulted the Ademola Adeleke administration’s narrative on the financial position it inherited from the immediate past government of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

Speaking at the Arise TV Town Hall Meeting monitored in Abuja, Oyebamiji said that the Oyetola administration left about N15 billion for the incoming government, contrary to what he described as “misleading claims” being circulated by the current administration.

He urged residents not to be swayed by what he called political narratives designed to create the impression that the Adeleke government inherited an empty treasury.

The APC candidate argued that the resources available to the present administration are significantly greater than what previous governments received, largely due to increased federal allocations following economic reforms by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“As at today in Osun, 97 per cent of resources go to just two local governments. That is an aberration; actually, it is criminal,” Oyebamiji said.

He added: “In 12 years of APC, Aregbesola and Oyetola, Osun got only N450 billion. In three and a half years of Adeleke, they have collected N650 billion. How does N650 billion match what we see in Osun today?”

“The resources available to the present administration in Osun have never been available to any governor of this state in this manner. But when you look around Osun today, there is nothing that commensurates with the level of resources available to the government,” he said.

Oyebamiji also commended President Tinubu for removing fuel subsidy and implementing economic reforms, noting that despite initial challenges, the policies have substantially increased resources to the three tiers of government, including Osun.

He promised that if elected in 2026, his administration would ensure Osun’s resources are deployed transparently, responsibly and equitably, with focus on accountability, prudent financial management, economic expansion and inclusive development.

The APC candidate said his government would prioritise building an Osun economy where young people have opportunities, businesses thrive, workers are supported, and communities across the state receive equitable attention.

He said the town hall provided him the platform to present his vision on governance, public finance and the challenges ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
