Ondo farmers safe, secured, says Akeredolu

DAMISI OJO,Akure.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has declared that, more than ever before, the State is safe and secured for farmers and other residents for their daily activities.

The Governor made this declaration on Tuesday at the flag-off of Year 2022 Agricultural Season, held at Comprehensive High School, Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government.

The event was an annual activities that is officially used to expose to farmers the opportunities available to them on improved varieties of crops, livestock, planting materials and trainings on good agricultural practices.

According to Governor Akeredolu, “we are doing our best to alleviate the challenges confronting our farmers by creating the conducive and enabling environment for them to engage in their farm businesses” .

“To a very large extent, farmers in the State can now go about their farming activities in their respective farms without palpable fear of molestation or attack from marauders” .

“This has been made possible through the grace of Almighty God and with the help of the Amotekun Corps who are always visible both in the metropolis and the rural farming communities” , disclosed the Governor.

Akeredolu also revealed at the flag-off that farmers would begin to witness the rehabilitation of access roads to some farming communities as part of government deliberate efforts to develop the agricultural sector as well as the rural areas for the economic wellbeing of the State.

“We are concentrating our attention on the agricultural sector for job creation, economic revival, as well as industrialization of the State” , he said.

At the event, the governor gave a matching order to land grabbers and encroachers to put a stopĀ  on government lands and forest reserves.

“Let me seize this opportunity to sound note of warning to all encroachers and land grabbers to desist from carrying out their illegal activities on government land and forest reserves” , he warned.

In his welcome address, Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Hon Olayato Aribo thanked the Governor for his unrelenting interventions towards the growth of Agriculture and Forestry in the State.

He equally thanked other supporting agencies and partners, particularly OLAM Food Ingredients that’s partnering with the State Government in distribution of free two million Cocoa seedlings to cocoa farmers in the State.

The commissioner thereafter charged all well meaning individuas and other agricultural investors in the State, to take advantage of the State’s investors friendliness and ease of doing business atmosphere, to collaborate with the State.
