Nigerian Man climbs mast, threatens suicide if FG does not address the economic difficulties Nigerians are facing

FAVOUR ISHEMBER, Abuja

 

A protester, Alhaji Shuaibu Yusuf from Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday, climbed a broadcast mast on Katampe Hill in Abuja, threatening to jump unless FG addresses the economic difficulties ordinary Nigerians are facing.

 

He called for the restoration of fuel subsidy, a state of emergency in seven states (Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger, and Borno) to address insecurity, and the opening of borders for food importation to alleviate shortages.

 

Yusuf, who had written his demands on the ground, urged fellow Nigerians to join him in protest, stating that he was willing to sacrifice his life for solutions to the country’s problems, including out-of-school children, inflation, and terrorism.

 

According to him, :”it’s long enough for government to standby and do nothing while Boko haran , bandits and kidnappers are killing people in the country everyday.

 

“Long enough For citizens to continue suffering for hunger,

Long enough For inflation to continue rising rapidly ,

Long enough for the  number of out of school children to continue increasing

Long enough For me to keep quiet”

 

“Justice for the masses

Justice for freedom

Government should immediately respond to the problem of out of school children which is increasing rapidly”

 

“These are the major Nigerian problems and I’m ready to sacrifice my life for the solution to them

I’m calling on fellow Nigerians to join me on this riot”.

 

The Acting Director-General of the FCT Emergency Management Department, Mrs. Florence Wenegieme, intervened, appealing to Yusuf to come down and promising that his message would reach President Tinubu’s table.

 

” I’m very sure that you will come up with ideas to see Nigerians through,  you will be  one of the person who will give the best advice to the President of Nigeria”

 

“We have seen you cry, your plight, all  that you have written,  on the ground here, we have Federal Government and the FCT Administration well represented,  the press are here to make sure this message goes viral , it will get to  President Tinubu’s table”

 

After a rescue talk, Yusuf descended and was taken into custody by FEMA and the police.

 

The incident highlights the growing frustration among Nigerians over the country’s economic and security challenges, with Yusuf’s demands reflecting the widespread desire for change.
