It was a moment of celebration as new executive Council of the Union of Tipper, Suppliers and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTSQEN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter was inaugurated into office with Comrade Edikan Iweh as chairman, with a 4 year mandate.
The event was historic because all the executive members were elected unopposed. Seen as a unity rally, chairmen of over eighteen factions of the union mobilized all their members to the event which was also the 2nd quadrennial Delegates’ Conference, thereby making the inauguration an event to remember with the venue filled to overflowing.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Edikan Iweh thanked the members for the trust and confidence reposed in him as their chairman, pledging to serve them with dedication and integrity.
He thanked the National President and his entourage which comprised the national working committee for shelving other engagements to come in persons, and for the show of love and commitment to upholding the truth by standing by his side and assured them never to disappoint.
In the same vein, he particularly poured encomiums on the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno PhD for creating an enabling environment, in area of good road network which acts as artery for the union to thrive in the state, and also accepting to attend the epoch making event through two of his key functionaries who were represented at the event.
On his part, the national chairman Comrade Chief Aliu Mayungbe urged the newly inaugurated executive council to carry every member along in discharge of their duty and also to cooperate and support the good work that Governor Umo Eno is doing in Akwa Ibom State.
The oath taking ceremony was performed by a legal luminary who also corroborated the advice by the national chairman for the leadership of the union to see their inauguration as an opportunity to be a servant leader, instead of lording over members.
After the inauguration, members relocated to a top class hospitalility outfit for a heavy refreshment where the core Akwa Ibom State delicacies were served and several bottles of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages were down to wash down the food.
