I’m back for Osun APC restructuring, hold no grudge against anyone– Aregbesola

Former Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has expressed readiness to restructure the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC).

He noted that he holds no grudge against anyone in Osun adding that his hands are wide open to work and receive anyone.

Following the completion of his tenure, Aregbesola arrived Osun and was received by jubilant members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other residents of the state in Ilesa and Osogbo on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Freedom Park, Osogbo, Aregbesola said it was unfortunate that some people had mismanaged the affairs of the APC and ran it aground.

He stated that in 2019, he called for the unity of the party with a warning that failure to unite different interest groups in the party would not produce any good result.

“I am here today to seek restructuring of the party. I didn’t offend anybody, but whoever feels that we offend him or her should forgive us.

“We seek forgiveness from those who thought we offended and those who sought our downfall.

“We supported them with all I have to see to their success. I didn’t ask for anything from them. I need to emphasise that I didn’t ask for anything from them. But they chose to repay evil for good.

“However, we are here for the restructuring of the party. That is why we are begging anybody that feels that we offended him or her to forgive us,” Aregbesola said.

Reminiscing on his political achievements, he appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari for the privilege to serve with them and their support so far in his political journey.

“I need to thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, it was through him that I became a Commissioner in Lagos state and a two-term governor in Osun.

“I appreciate former President Muhammadu Buhari; after God, it was him that made me the Minister which I just concluded,” he said.

Earlier at the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun described the former Minister as an achiever who works for the good of the people and has sustained development in Osogbo.

The monarch said, “when the location of the Nigeria Air Force base was going to cause issues, the former Minister intervened on our behalf. He stayed with me, stayed with Osogbo, and he’s still with us.

“We appreciate you. We appreciate all that you have done for us. Osogbo will forever be grateful and be with you.”
