I intend to replicate in Plateau what I learnt from Morroco- Hon. Ashoms

DANIEL DAUDA, Jos

The Honourable commissioner Plateau State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Ibrahim Musa Ashoms, has stated that his intention is to replicate the lessons learnt during the 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Ashoms made this known when speaking to newsmen after he landed Yakubu Gowon International Airport, Heipang, Barkin-Ladi LGA from Morocco on Monday.

Emphasizing the importance of confronting challenges head-on, the commissioner acknowledged the Senegalese team’s comeback and Nigeria’s commendable performance despite not qualifying for the World Cup as great examples.

He charged Plateau youths to confront challenges with determination and resilience as they share positive stories and experiences to showcase Plateau’s potential and beauty.

According to Ashoms, “I took mental notes of the sporting development in Morocco.

If what I saw is sustained, in the next ten years, Morocco could be unrivaled in sports.

“As you move from one kilometer to the next, you see tennis courts, basketball courts, football pitches, and other sporting facilities.

“The environment is clean, organized, and well-maintained. There is much we can learn from Morocco, and just as Morocco is open to development, so is Plateau

“One thing I observed is that every Moroccan advertises Morocco. Even in taxis or on the streets, they will ask, have you used argan oil before? We should do the same for Plateau.

When people come to our state, ask them, have you tried Plateau potatoes before?” We need to market what we have. Let us not allow others to demarket us”, Ashoms stated.

He also revealed that Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s initiative to create a platform for sharing experiences is a great opportunity to promote Plateau and inspire young people, saying “let’s work together to showcase our state’s potential and make Plateau proud!”.
