I build on President Buhari gains, bridge the gap that exists if elected President – Fayemi

As part of his presidential  tours, Governor Kayode Fayemi’s train of All Progressives Congress, A PC, I has visited Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, saying  he is in the race to build on.the gains of President Muhammadu Buhari and address the gap, that exists, as government is a continuous process.

Dr. Fayemi, who is also the Governor of Ekiti State, disclosed this  while addressing APC stakeholders in Borno at the party secretariat Maiduguri on Thursday.

“I am a founding member of the APC, I know the nooks and crannies of the country. I served as the first chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), and have served all of my colleagues well. Now as  the Chairman,  Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), I have gained the trust and confidence of the entire Governors”, Fayemi stated.

He said as a Phd holder inward studies, he understands how to achieve peace and assured that if elected as President, he will deploy technology in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, among other crimes.

“As the chairman NGF, I  worked in ensuring that I protect,, defend and promote Nigeria in all diversity. This job I am seeking is about improving the condition of  ordinary Nigerians. It is an opportunity for me to build on the gains of President Buhari and also address the gaps that existed, because government is a continuous process. This job can never finish but our people must feel the difference in their lives. So, I am confidence that members of our party will vote me”, he added.

When asked on the issue of zoning, Governor Fayemi said: “Nigeria is a diverse country, competent people are in all parts of the country. My role has always been a bridge builder and unifying factor in Nigeria. I believe that Nigeria’s diverse competence comes from parts of country.

” When you have multicultural,  multi religious, diverse society,  you also need measures to build trust and confidence in the people of the country. So, every part should feel a sense of belonging but you must never allow  what I call positive discrimination to undermine competence or be anti-democratic.”, he further said.

He, however, said If the position of the party said presidency would bring a sense of belonging, he has no objection to that as party man.

The campaign train of Governor Fayemi later moved to Yobe State, where he addressed the APC stakeholders.
