Healthy living catalyst for sustainable development, says Madumere

A former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze  Madumere, has stated that good health remains the  pivotal foundation upon which education, productivity and sustainable development are anchored..

Prince Madumere, the Imo East Senatorial candidate for PDP in the 2027  election, stressed that good healthcare  system such as free medical outreaches and giving assistance in reducing the burden of diseases.

According to him, “By detecting diseases early, to  ensure timely intervention, it increases public awareness.”

He further observed that outreaches  reflect the true essence of the medical profession service to humanity.

The former Deputy Governor expressed this opinion while speaking at a forum organised by the students of the faculty of Health Science, Imo State  University (IMSU), Owerri medical outreach on Monday.

According to him, students who dedicate their time and knowledge to improve on the lives of others are already demonstrating the qualities of responsible professionals and future leaders.

Madumere   applauded the Faculty of Health Science Students’ Association (FOHSSA), Imo State University, Owerri, for organizing a successful Free Health Outreach, describing the initiative as a practical demonstration of leadership through service and compassion.

He urged the students to remain focus and study assiduously, so as to emerge victorious in their academics and  also appreciated the leadership and members of FOHSSA for taking healthcare beyond the classroom.

Prince Madumere also eulogized the wide range of services offered during the outreach, including BMI assessment, vital signs checks, HIV screening, eye screening, blood sugar testing, malaria screening, medical consultations,  health education and counselling.

He remarked that such interventions would positively impact many individuals who may not have had easy access to these healthcare services.

He encouraged the students to remain committed to excellence, professionalism and community service, assuring that society needs more young people who combine academic knowledge with compassion and a genuine desire to make a difference.in the society.

The former Deputy Governor appreciated OCCEEJ Diagnostics,  sponsors and partners, whose support contributed to the success of the programme, noting that collaboration between institutions, healthcare providers, and public-spirited individuals represents essential ingredient  to building a healthier Imo State.
