FRSC sector commander pledges crackdown on road crashes in Enugu

Corps Commander Patrick Egwu on Wednesday assumed duty as the 22nd Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Enugu State Command.

Egwu, a seasoned officer with vast experience in road safety operations and administration, was until his appointment the Zonal Head of Administration at the FRSC Zone 9 Headquarters, Enugu.

Speaking to journalists shortly after taking over, Egwu said his primary focus would be the drastic reduction of road traffic crashes in the state, particularly along notorious black spots.

“My major goal is to ensure reduction of road crashes, especially on the Ugwu-Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the Ozalla axis of the Enugu-Abakaliki-Port Harcourt Expressway,” he said.

The new Sector Commander added that he would drive the attainment of the FRSC’s 2026 Corporate Strategic Goals aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring safer roads.

He called for collective responsibility and stronger collaboration among stakeholders, including fleet operators, commercial drivers, motorists and all road users.

“Road safety remains a shared responsibility of every road user and, by extension, all Nigerians. FRSC is the lead agency on road safety and traffic management, but we need everybody’s contribution to ensure our roads are safe always,” Egwu said.

He also sought synergy with sister security agencies, relevant organizations and the media to achieve the Command’s set objectives.
