AKOR SYLVESTER, Abuja

The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGOF) Surv. Abuduganiyu Adeyemi Adebomehin has disclosed that the Federal Government blueprint to map Nigeria is on course, assuring that the feat would be achieved by the present administration

He also warned that those threatening court actions against the movement of the Office of Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the presidency, with the power given to the office, risk fighting a presidential order.

The SGOF who stated this while hosting the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) Abuja branch in his office, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was interested after he was briefed by SGOF on the last time Nigeria was mapped, which he said was in the 70s.

He said, ” I don’t know why some people are threatening to go to  court over this decision.”

The Surveyor General of the Federation noted that “this is the first time we would be having real surveying in Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda  of Mr President, no one can challenge the Presidential order.”

He revealed that: “My office carried out the tour of the coastal bridge with the Minister of Works Engr. David Umahi, the Federal Government is trying to put in a tunnel from Victoria Island to Badagry in Lagos State, and that will be the first tunnel in the whole of Africa.”

The Surveyor General told NIS that “My gain is to give the surveying profession ample opportunity to develop.

It is much better for OSGOF to be under the presidency to harness its potential,  the office has been working with low budget and slow in decision-making because of the  bureaucracy.”

Earlier in his votes of thanks, Surv. Robert Coker, the head of Hydrography in OSGOF, said “Anyone who is not happy with the movement of OSGOF tothe  Presidency amounts to fighting a presidential order and they have to contend with the highest authority in the land“.

He enjoined NIS and others within the surveying profession to ensure that the image of the profession is well protected by properly guiding the upcoming young surveyors “.

Surv Alfred Adeojo, the NIS FCT (Secretary ) said, “with the movement of OSGOF to the presidency, it means good things are ahead of us and it took the SGOF a lot of courage and boldness to achieve this.

We, the young ones coming behind him, shall emulate this”. This was contained in a statement signed by Henry David, Head, Information and Public Relations, OSGOF.
