Jubilation has gripped Eke community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State following the Federal Government’s announcement of the immediate commencement of academic activities at the newly established Federal Technical College in the community.
The development is in line with the Federal Government’s efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen technical and vocational education and produce a skilled workforce capable of driving Nigeria’s industrial and technological development. Executive Branch.
Speaking to prospective pioneer students and their parents at the college’s supplementary examination centre, the Principal, Mr. Gideon Audu Angbeye, said the institution was established as part of efforts to address the country’s growing skills gap and provide young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant education.
Angbeye disclosed that the pioneer students would receive their education completely free of charge, with the Federal Government providing tuition, school uniforms and daily meals.
According to him, the government has also made adequate financial provisions for the smooth takeoff of the institution, including full operational funding for the feeding and welfare of students for the first five months.
He said the college’s curriculum had been carefully structured to combine academic knowledge with intensive practical training, ensuring that students graduate with skills that can be applied directly in the workplace.
Angbeye explained that Senior Technical One would focus on foundational theories and technical principles, while Senior Technical Two would expose students to intensive practical training and workshop-based learning.
He added that Senior Technical Three would integrate advanced practical applications with academic theory, providing students with comprehensive training and preparing them for further education, employment and entrepreneurship.
To strengthen the quality of training, the Principal said the college was establishing partnerships with leading industrial research and technical institutions, including the Projects Development Institute (PRODA) and the Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI), as well as other corporate service providers.
He urged the pioneer students to take full advantage of the opportunity provided by the Federal Government, describing the new college as a platform through which they could acquire valuable skills and contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.
The Principal also commended the people of Eke community for their hospitality, cooperation and support, particularly their collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education in ensuring the smooth establishment and commencement of operations of the college in Enugu State.
