The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has summoned a crucial expanded meeting of its State Executive Committee (SEC) to deliberate on the party’s campaign strategy and its overall standing ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The meeting, billed for Friday, 6 November 2026, will take place at the Monarchy Event Center, Effurun-Sapele Road, Effurun, starting at 10:00 am. The call for the meeting was contained in a notice signed by the State Secretary, Alaowei Cleric Ebikonbowei, Esq., and made available to Daily Champion.
The notice stated that the meeting is being held in accordance with Section 24(4) of the PDP Constitution 2017, underscoring the party’s commitment to adhering to its internal rules.
A review of the seven-point agenda reveals the party’s intent to consolidate its political machinery in the state. The meeting will receive reports from the national leadership on the party’s campaign efforts and assess the “State of the Party in Delta State.”
In a move to ensure broad-based participation, the agenda includes remarks from the Board of Trustees (BoTs), National Officers from the state, and responses from notable leaders from the three senatorial districts and the party’s candidates.
The State Secretary’s notice, however, emphasised that attendance is restricted to a specific list of party stakeholders. These include the 39 SEC members, all past and present BoTs from the state, zonal executive members, LGA chairmen, delegates to the 2026 National Convention, and all candidates vying for elections under the party’s platform. Also invited are three notable leaders from each of the three senatorial districts.
The meeting is expected to be a significant step in unifying the party’s leadership and candidates as the political tempo heightens. For further inquiries, the notice directed members to contact the State Secretary via the provided phone number.
For a better society
