DavoDani Microfinance Bank Limited has restated its commitment to its dual mission of economic empowerment and social well-being by offering free cancer screening to customers as part of activities marking the 2026 Customer Service Week.
The health outreach, held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the bank’s head office at 28 Ogudu Road, Ojota, Lagos, was designed to promote early detection and better health among its growing customer base.
Speaking at the event, the bank’s Managing Director, Mr. John Ejenavi Ologe, said it was meaningless to provide financial support to an unhealthy customer, noting that the bank was committed to the social mission of modern microfinance.
“What is the use of giving money to an unhealthy customer? A healthy customer is key. A man or woman who has no house, no address, or is sick cannot trade effectively. So, beyond economic value, we also look at social issues,” he said.
Ologe explained that the founder of microfinance banking, Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, envisioned microfinance not only as a means of providing loans but also as a tool for improving people’s lives.
He said, “Microfinance has two key missions—the economic mission and the social mission. What we are doing today is fulfilling the social mission. This programme gives us the opportunity to identify health challenges that go beyond economic issues and help address them.”
He disclosed that the bank, which has operated for more than 12 years and has 14 branches across strategic locations in Lagos, including Arena, Egbeda, Ikeja, Ajegunle, Alaba, Trade Fair, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Ajah, recently raised N5 billion from the capital market to maintain liquidity and support customers’ businesses.
He added that the bank had been rated by Agusto & Co. Limited and DataPro Limited, a development that boosted investor confidence ahead of the capital raise.
“With over N40 billion in customer deposits built on trust and confidence, we are liquid enough to deliver the services our customers need. Our plan is to become a regional bank in the near future,” he stated.
The bank also noted that it does not require medical records before granting loans, but that initiatives such as the screening exercise provide an opportunity to identify health issues early.
Earlier, the bank’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Ahmeed Aminu, said this year’s Customer Service Week, themed “The Extra Mile,” was a global event designed to appreciate both internal and external customers.
“For us, going the extra mile means ensuring that our customers are in good health. Many of them are busy with their daily businesses and do not know their health status. This is an opportunity to conduct tests and provide proper medical advice,” Aminu said.
He added that despite the rain on the day staff conducted road sensitisation around Ogudu, Ojota and environs, the bank remained committed to serving its customers.
“Come rain or sunshine, we are there for our customers. Our turnaround time is very fast, and we go all out to provide the best service,” he said.
Aminu noted that the bank offers competitive interest rates as low as three per cent, describing them as among the best in the Nigerian market, and assured customers that their deposits were safe.
“We have customers who have been saving and fixing funds with us for 12 years without any issues. When it comes to guaranteeing prosperity and financial freedom, DavoDani is there,” he said.
The bank’s collaborating partner, Dr. Yewande Omikunle-Ogunbiyi, Director of Public Affairs at OluKoye Foundation, a breast cancer charity, described the collaboration as timely, especially as October is globally recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
She said early detection remained key to reducing breast cancer mortality among women.
Activities lined up for Customer Service Week included roadshow sensitisation on the bank’s presence, customer appreciation visits and a breast cancer screening exercise, which commenced at 10 a.m. and was open to loan, savings and fixed-deposit customers.
The bank called on prospective customers and residents of Lagos to take advantage of its services to achieve financial freedom and prosperity.
For a better society
