President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the government and people of Kano on the loss of the renowned academic, administrator and a patriotic Nigerian, Professor Ibrahim Umar, who passed on Monday and was buried Tuesday morning.

The President particularly condoles with the Nigerian academic community especially, past and present lecturers and students of the Bayero University, Kano, where the late professor was Vice Chancellor 1979-1986.

“His period as the VC of BUK was marked with extensive infrastructural and scholarly development in the institution.

“The Late Professor Umar’s contributions in Science and Technology, particularly in the field of Physics in Nigeria will forever be remembered, as a one-time Director General of the Nigerian Energy Commission as well as his vast involvement in the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency,” Buhari said.

As the erudite scholar is interred, the President Buhari urges his colleagues and mentees to keep his memory alive by engaging in further researches and breakthroughs into renewable energy processes where he devoted a substantial part of his life.

He prays for the repose of his soul and fortitude for the family and friends as they mourn the man who loved his country dearly and gave a lot towards its advancement.
