The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has been named the recipient of the Daily Times Nigeria 100 Politician of the Year Award.
The recognition was part of the newspaper’s centenary celebrations, tagged DTN@100.
According to the newspaper, the award is in honour of Prof. Yilwatda’s exemplary leadership, commitment to public service and contributions to national development.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON.
According to the party, the award will be presented at the Times Heroes Awards ceremony scheduled for September 3, 2026_ at the ThisDay Dome, Abuja.
As part of the anniversary celebration, Prof. Yilwatda will also be featured in the commemorative Nigerian Grand Book (National Souvenir). The publication celebrates distinguished Nigerians and their contributions to nation-building over the past 100 years.
The APC described the award as a testament to the chairman’s track record in governance, academia and politics, and his current role in providing direction for the ruling party.
“The Party is proud of this recognition and believes it reflects the values of service, integrity and results that Prof. Yilwatda represents,” the statement said.
The party also called on friends, political associates and well-wishers who wish to place congratulatory messages to honour Prof. Yilwatda to contact relevant newspapers.
Daily Times Nigeria, founded in 1926, is marking 100 years of journalism in Nigeria with a series of events to honour individuals and institutions that have shaped the country’s development.
Prof. Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, was elected APC National Chairman earlier this year.
