The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures, and advancing reforms that promote transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness within the party and in the country.

The Forum, chaired by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, made this known in a communiqué issued at the end of its closed door meeting held on Wednesday night with the APC leadership in Abuja.

According to the communiqué, the PGF welcomed the comprehensive briefing by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on the party’s ongoing national e-registration and digital membership update, which has recorded significant growth, including increased youth participation and the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN) verification.

The Forum noted that this initiative will enhance data-driven planning, improve demographic insights, and strengthen grassroots engagement across states and communities.

The PGF reviewed and endorsed the proposed timetable and institutional framework for the forthcoming Ward, Local Government, State, Zonal Congresses, and the National Convention.

The Forum emphasized the importance of transparent and coordinated financial management in the conduct of congresses and conventions, ensuring fairness, consistency, and accountability across all states.

The PGF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to party unity and internal harmony, underscoring the need for responsible leadership communication and collective discipline.

The Forum announced a schedule of strategic engagements and state visits aimed at reinforcing grassroots structures, strengthening party cohesion, and supporting progressive governance across the federation, starting with a visit to Taraba State.

The PGF formally welcomed the Governors of Taraba and Plateau states into the Forum, reaffirming the collective resolve of Progressive Governors to work in partnership with the APC leadership.

The Forum expressed appreciation to the APC National Chairman, National Secretary, and members of the National Working Committee for their constructive engagement.

The APC launched a digital membership registration exercise, linking members to their National Identification Number (NIN) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This initiative aims to create a comprehensive database, enhance the party’s membership register, and strengthen internal democracy.

The exercise is expected to run from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026.
The party’s congresses and national convention are scheduled as follows:
Ward Congresses: February 18, 2026
Local Government Congresses: February 20, 2026.

State Congresses: March 7, 2026. Zonal Congresses: March 21, 2026 while National Convention was fixed for March 25-28, 2026.
