Anxiety as gunmen abducts monarch in Ondo

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the Oloso of Oso at Ajowa-Akoko, in Akoko North-West local government area of Ondo State, Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun.

According to reports, gunmen attacked the residence of the monarch around 10:15 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2022, and forcefully entered the palace of the monarch and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

It was reported that the gunmen gained access to his residence after destroying his door with gunshots.

A palace source said that the doors to the palace were shot at severally before the bandits gained access to the inner chambers of the monarch.

According to him, “When they came, they surrounded the building and started ordering the monarch and other occupants to open the door and surrender willingly, but nobody answered.”

“At this point, they started shooting. They destroyed the main door and entered.

” They terrorised the Kabiyesi and his family members before dragging him out and taking took him away.
“None of the family members had been contacted, but we knew they were kidnappers”.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami.
Odunlami disclosed that operatives have been deployed to probe the attack.

The spokesperson said, “it is true but the details of the incident are still not clear. However, Police from the Divisional Police headquarters at Oke-Agbe, headquarters of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State have been deployed in the town to launch an investigation into the incident.”
