Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security and safety agencies, has commenced a comprehensive security assessment of strategic locations across the state ahead of the planned visit of high-profile dignitaries.
The exercise, which began on Monday, September 7, 2026, is part of the Command’s proactive and intelligence-driven approach to identifying potential security vulnerabilities and strengthening operational preparedness ahead of the visit.
According to the Command, the first phase of the assessment is targeting designated venues, major access routes, critical infrastructure and other strategic locations considered vital to the safety and security of the visiting dignitaries and the general public.
The exercise is also designed to validate existing security arrangements and identify gaps requiring immediate attention, with emphasis on threat identification, intelligence sharing, access and movement control, strategic deployment, traffic management and emergency response capabilities.
The Command said the assessment was being conducted through enhanced inter-agency coordination to establish a seamless security architecture capable of responding effectively to emerging threats before, during and after the visit.
Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, directed all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to conduct comprehensive security assessments within their respective Areas of Responsibility and immediately address any vulnerabilities identified.
The CP further charged personnel deployed for the assignment to maintain the highest level of vigilance, discipline and professionalism, while remaining courteous and responsive in their interactions with members of the public.
He stressed that all security operations must be conducted strictly within the ambit of the law and with full respect for fundamental human rights.
The Commissioner assured residents and visitors that the Police Command, working in close collaboration with other security and safety agencies, had activated the necessary measures to guarantee a secure, peaceful and orderly environment throughout the period of the visit.
He appealed to residents, motorists, business owners, community leaders and other stakeholders to cooperate with security personnel and comply with lawful directives issued to facilitate the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Ama also urged members of the public to promptly provide credible information about suspicious persons, movements or activities capable of threatening public safety, assuring that such information would assist the security agencies in preventing crime and maintaining peace.
The Command said it would sustain a heightened security posture and operational readiness before, during and after the visit.
It will be recalled that the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu is scheduled to visit Anambra State on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Her visit is expected to attract dignitaries and political heavyweights from across the country.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday.
