The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has ordered heightened alertness and improved operational readiness across police formations in the state, as he embarked on unscheduled visits to selected Police Divisions.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a statement issued in Awka on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The Commissioner, who conducted the visits on Monday, September 14, 2026, said the exercise was aimed at strengthening operational preparedness, assessing personnel readiness and ensuring effective policing at the grassroots.
During the unscheduled inspections, CP Nnanna assessed the general condition of the stations, including facilities, arms, operational equipment and the preparedness of officers and men to respond swiftly to emerging security threats.
The Police boss directed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to sustain heightened vigilance within their respective Areas of Responsibility (AORs), stressing the need for proactive policing, rapid response and effective deployment of personnel.
He also ordered the DPOs to prioritise the maintenance and facelift of their stations, insisting that police facilities must remain clean, functional, orderly and conducive to effective service delivery.
According to him, the physical condition of police stations is important to public confidence and contributes to the quality of interaction between the Police and the communities they serve.
CP Nnanna further charged officers and men to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and courtesy in the discharge of their duties, while respecting the fundamental rights of citizens.
He, however, urged personnel to remain firm and decisive in confronting criminal elements and responding to security challenges within the ambit of the law.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing, assuring Ndi Anambra that the Police would continue to strengthen operational strategies, enhance visibility and sustain measures aimed at preventing crime and protecting lives and property across the state.
The Police formations inspected by the Commissioner include the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu; Dunukofia Police Station; Oyi Police Station; and the newly constructed Ogbunike Police Station.
