AMAECHI PERCY ONYEJEKWE, Awka

His Royal Highness, Engineer Nick Obi, the Monarch of Nnobi has warned political parties in Anambra to stop the  use of foul language at campaigns.

Obi, the Igwe Omenyili Nnobi stated this at his place during the ongoing Ashaolu festival on Monday.

The monarch’s warning comes amidst the growing alleged animosities between political parties in Anambra and their resort to verbal attacks against one another in the state as they intensify campaigns for the November 8 Governorship Election in the state.

The APGA and the APC, according to sources, had been allegedly abandoned in the abyss of political verbal attacks and use of unsound languages against each other , an ugly development that had created worries among the citizens and traditional rulers in Anambra.

Obi who described the Ashaolu Nnobi as an annual festival that heralds the eating of the new yam after the planting season and harvesting of the yam tubbers, urged political party candidates for the November 8 election to stop using foul and vile language against one another and do issue based campaigns that would earn them votes during the election.

The monarch who urged the Nnobi people to celebrate the event with peace and love , advised the political parties to be civil, law abiding as they go about their campaigns , adding that Anambra people would still remain one united family after the  November 8 election.

” The candidates should stop using foul, vile language. What comes out of their mouths is not good to be heard. No, no, no, no .

They should do issue based campaigns instead of using foul language and verbal attacks against one another”, The Monarch said.
