Akaiso Akaiso, UYO
It was a day of joy, thanksgiving and royal colours in Uyo recently, as the Secretary to the Eastern Obolo local government Council took his three-month-old daughter, Princess Beatrice Tamuno Anthony, to the Qua Iboe Church for dedication.
The infant, dressed in a sparkling white linen christening gown pinched with pink christening gown with a tiny crown-like headband, slept peacefully in her mother’s arms as the congregation rose in admiration.
The dedication service, conducted by the Resident Minister of the church, (name not known as at press time), was filled with hymns, prayers and prophetic declarations.
Holding the baby aloft before the altar, the cleric prayed: “Beatrice, you shall grow in wisdom, stature and favour. You shall be a princess indeed, a light to your generation.”
The Secretary, visibly emotional, told the congregation that the child is a testimony of God’s faithfulness after years of waiting and prayers.
“We have named her Princess because she is royalty before God. We return her to God who gave her to us, that He will order her foot steps,” he said.
His wife, Mrs Anthony radiant in a flowing peach lace, could not hide her joy. “Every kick, every smile reminds me that God answers prayers. I am the happiest mother today,” she said.
The church auditorium was packed with council staff, political associates, family members from Rivers and Akwa Ibom states, and friends who came to honour the family.
Special thanksgiving songs were rendered by the church choir, while the children’s department presented a choreography in honour of the baby.
Immediately after the church service, guests emptied into the prestigious Watbridge Hotel and Suites for a lavish reception.
The hall was beautifully decorated in gold, white and blush pink, with a giant backdrop bearing the inscription: “Welcome To The Dedication Of Princess Beatrice Tamuno Anthony.”
Guests were treated to assorted delicacies, drinks and soulful music, as a one man live band dished out praise tunes and contemporary hits.
The cutting of the dedication cake was a major highlight, with the little princess, aided by her parents, touching the knife to cheers and camera flashes.
In their goodwill messages, dignitaries described the Council Secretary as a humble and hardworking administrator, praying that the child will bring more blessings to the family and Eastern Obolo.
As the evening wound down with dancing and photographs, one thing was clear: Princess Beatrice Tamuno Anthony had been ushered into the world not just with love, but with a covenant. A princess indeed, dedicated to greatness.
For a better society
