A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State, Dr. Joseph Ile, has given reasons why the party’s presidential candidate and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will defeat incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the APC and Mr. Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.
Dr. Ile disclosed this on Saturday in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, while speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the funeral of Late Mrs Mary Orduah, mother of the former Minister of Transportation and ex-governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
He said the ADC has the brightest chance of winning the election, noting that the choice of Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate has further strengthened the party’s prospects.
He boasted that ADC’s victory in the 2027 presidential election is assured given the current realities in the country, describing the Atiku-Amaechi combination as an unbeatable ticket.
“I can assure Nigerians that Atiku Abubakar will win the 2027 presidential election. The economy and the hardship in the land has made Nigerians wiser. ADC is presenting a credible alternative with experience and capacity. The people are tired of the APC and they will vote for change. We will not even need a coalition to win because the victory will be clear.
“The choice of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as vice-presidential candidate is a big boost and an added advantage for Atiku to win. Amaechi is a grassroots mobilizer, a tested administrator and a former governor who understands the politics of the South. His presence on the ticket balances our chances and gives us a national spread that other parties do not have,”he stated.
Speaking on the electoral dynamics, the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, ONELGA-born politician said the South’s votes would split immensely to the advantage of the ADC. He explained that the voting pattern will guarantee victory for the ADC, with Atiku getting full support from the north.
“While Atiku will enjoy full support of the North, President Tinubu’s votes in the South will be divided between Peter Obi, Amaechi and others. That division automatically hands victory to ADC,” he said.
The party chieftain maintained that the ADC will win the 2027 election seamlessly, stressing that there will be no need for a coalition to defeat Tinubu.
He also identified the poor handling of the nation’s economy as the greatest failure of the current administration that will cost it the next election.
“The strongest failure of this government is the economy. Inflation is killing businesses; hardship and hunger in the land; food prices are beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians; fuel prices have gone up and purchasing power has collapsed. Nigerians are suffering and they will use their votes to punish the APC for this economic hardship,” Dr. Ile noted.
Dr. Ile also cited national acceptance, experience and an economic blueprint to why Atiku and the ADC will crush APC’s and Obi of the NDC.
“Atiku understands how to manage the economy; he has experience in governance and he enjoys goodwill in the North and parts of the South. He has a clear plan to rescue the economy and unify the country. That is why Nigerians will prefer him to Tinubu and Obi,” he said.
Dr. Ile used the medium to also sympathized with Amaechi over the death of his mother, whom he described as a virtuous, loving and industrious woman.
“We condole with our leader, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the entire Amaechi family on the demise of their beloved mother. Mama Mary Orduah was a virtuous and industrious woman who lived a fulfilled life and raised a son who served Rivers State and Nigeria with distinction. May her soul rest in perfect peace and may God grant the family the strength to bear this loss,” he said.
For a better society
