Tunde Adeleke, Osogbo
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Ajibola Basiru, has disclosed that political differences, personal ambitions and interests should not be allowed to undermine the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
This is just as he urged party members and political stakeholders to work with Governor Ademola Adeleke to secure electoral victories.
He made the appeal on Thursday, during the inauguration of the President Tinubu’s Campaign Committee by Governor Adeleke.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu appointed Governor Adeleke a member of the Accord Party as the coordinator of his campaign committee in Osun State.
Basiru said, “For us in Osun State, we must understand that, irrespective of our feelings, ambitions or political interests, we must abide by the mission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support Governor Ademola Adeleke to ensure the success of the campaign.”
He added that supporting Tinubu to secure a second term in office was important, urging stakeholders in the state to unite across political party lines to achieve the objective.
Meanwhile, Adeleke while inaugurating the committee said, “It is with a high sense of responsibility that I stand here today to inaugurate the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for the re-election of our dear father and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We assemble here to mobilise and deliver even more than the 1.5 million votes we earlier promised Mr President.
“In this hall is a gathering of who is who in Osun political terrain. We have all the strikers, the defenders and the midfielders. This rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP structures is superbly potent to deliver Osun overwhelmingly to Mr President come next year January.”
However, the event recorded the presence of notable members of the APC, Accord and PDP in the state, including former National interim chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande, former Secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore, and former Deputy Governor of the state, Titilaoye Tomori.
Others include the Speaker Osun House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, Accord Party chairman in the state, Victor Akande, the PDP chairman in the state, Sunday Bisi among others.
