Wike goes tough on Abuja residents, set to ban Roadside Pickups

In a significant move to transform the transportation landscape of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike has announced plans to revolutionize the city’s transportation system.

During an inspection tour of ongoing bus terminal projects in Mabushi and Kugbo, Wike expressed excitement over the rapid progress made so far.

“We are changing the face of Abuja’s transportation system,” Wike declared. “By the time we complete these terminals, we won’t allow buses and taxis to pick passengers on the roads. Everyone will have to use the designated terminals.”

The Minister revealed that the projects, flagged off on July 1, are ahead of schedule, with the contractor promising delivery by January. This exceeds the initial 15-month timeline.

Wike emphasized the benefits of the new system, citing efficiency, organization, and enhanced user experience.

“Residents of Abuja will witness a transformed landscape, enjoying a reliable and efficient transportation system.”

With the FCT Administration’s commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure, Abuja is poised to become a model for urban transportation in Nigeria.

The contractor assured that the project will be completed soon.
