The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, warned yesterday that it would not tolerate any insult from anybody for allegedly adjusting the sit-at-home order to now be held  only on arraignment days of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu instead of the earlier order of every Monday.

 

Sounding the note of warning, the IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful stated, “we have noted with utter dismay, the barrage of insults rained on our leadership over the adjustment of the earlier announced Monday’s weekly sit-at-home in solidarity with our illegally and unjustly detained leader”.

 

“We want to make it clear to all that the adjustment by the Directorate of State, DOS was in fact as a result of a direct order from the highest authority in IPOB hierarchy, and does not in any way suggest compromise or betrayal of the struggle as being insinuated by some uninformed fellows and agents

of provocateur.

 

Those trying to misconstrue the action of DOS or twist it for ulterior motives may have  lost focus of the ultimate objective of the struggle.”

 

“The derogatory attacks on DOS and leadership over this strategic decision are not only embarrassing but very unfortunate.”

 

“How can anyone in his/her wildest imagination contemplate that the DOS can take any action that will or be induced by anybody to sabotage the Biafran struggle?”

 

He said that IPOB has an undisputable leader in the person of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu whose order is final such that the Directorate of State cannot in good conscience wilfully disobey the order.

 

“The DOS does not mind being insulted by Biafrans, but one thing that needs to be made clear to IPOB family members worldwide, friends and detractors alike is that the Directorate of State of the Indigenous people of Biafra cannot by any stretch of imagination be compelled or bamboozled into

disregarding or disobeying a direct order from our leader”.

 

“Those outside the leadership can never know more than the leaders. What is expected of every IPOB family member and Biafrans at this point is loyalty and consistence. The DOS knows what is at stake, understands the terrain and can never betray the trust reposed on it by the leader of this great movement and by Biafrans”.

 

He warned further that, “the adjustment of the sit-at-home is sacrosanct because the order of the leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be implemented fully”

 

“Biafrans and residents of Biafra land are therefore free to go about their legitimate businesses every Monday without fear, intimidation or molestation by anybody.

 

Sit-at-home will be observed only on days our leader will appear in court, and on such other days our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will give the order,” he reiterated.

Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) said yesterday that it would mark her 22 years anniversary of the non-violent  movement.

 

Its founder and leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, consequently renewed his earlier call on Unrepresented Nations and People’s Organization,

UNPO, to pressurize the UN and the developed countries of the world not to look the other side while more human lives and properties  are being wasted on daily basis in Nigeria.

 

Recall that MASSOB was floated to pursue the realization of a republic of Biafra on September 13,1999, by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike through a

non-violent process as a result of alleged marginalization of Igbo race.

 

MASSOB in a statement made available to newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra state, said that as she remembered the founding of the non-violence

movement at No. 22, Ajijedidum street, off Agunlejika street, Ijesha-tedo, surulere, Lagos,

Nigeria, by her leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, it has become necessary to call on the leadership of Unrepresented Nations and People’s Organizations, UNPO, to pressurize the world body and other

Western Nations to speed up the separation process of Biafra from Nigeria wthout resulting to another civil  war.

 

“The internationally- renowned non-violence separatist movement expressed regret and worry that the United Nations, UN and Western

countries are always indifferent, slow and not being proactive to responding to the problem of the oppressed people in Africa until such problems result in full scale civil war and conflicts”.

 

Citing cases of Southern Sudan (Darfur region) , Somalia, Rwanda, Congo, Liberia and others, BIM-MASSOB in the statement signed by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike’s Personal Assistant on Media Matters, Elder Chris Mocha, said that United Nations and the developed countries of the world waited till the problems of these African countries escalated to

war and genocide, urging UN to recognize Biafra based on the 1967-1970 civil war it fought with Nigeria.

 

According to him, ‘the constant humiliation the people of Eastern Nigeria (now Biafra) have continued to suffer in the hands of successive governments in Nigeria  has now been fully orchestrated by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government”.

 

This he stated was encapsulated in the memorandum that was sent to the US  State Department by various Self-Determination groups in Europe and other parts of the world on April 19, 2007, which was a day set aside for peaceful

protests across the world in support of the course of MASSOB and its incarcerated leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.

 

Uwazuruike who went down memory lane said that Soviet Union had in 1991 separated into 15 independent states, that included, Czechoslovakia in 1992 separated into Czech and Slovakia republics, Eritrea in 1991 also separated from Ethiopia, Singapore separated from Malaysia while Sweden separated from Norway.

 

Continuing he said,’ “just recently East-Timor, a tiny populations of about 821,000 people in May 21, 2002 separated from Indonesia stating that during this period under our watch Serbia and Montenegro during a world cup football tournament in July 2006 were separated”.

 

“Kosovo , part of Serbia , a smaller country of less than 10 million people separated on February 17, 2008, South Sudan separated from Sudan on July 9, 2011, now as the newest world’s country”.

 

Uwazuruike wondered why In the case of Biafra  with a population of over 50 million people, that all the pleas to UN and other developed countries of the world seemed to have fallen on deaf ears even when Biafrans have suffered severe persecutions and wasted more human lives and properties more than these countries they separated and granted

independent status in Europe and America.
