BLESSING AKOROWOSI, Osogbo

Osun State University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, on Thursday, flagged off the construction of the institution’s iconic Senate building.

The ultra-modern building project is funded by the Federal Government intervention through TETFUND for tertiary education delivery and development in Nigeria.

Laying its foundation at the main campus in Osogbo, Prof. Adebooye said Uniosun was gradually becoming the first choice university in Nigeria.

He appreciated the special favor and intervention of the Federal Government, pledging that the institution will continually uphold the vision of its founding fathers.

“There is no doubt that we are able to win this because of our commitment to the delivery of an unhindered, high-quality tertiary education in Nigeria.

“It is a product of the collective effort of all the primary stakeholders in the UNIOSUN project, including the people and government of Osun State.

“We, therefore, promise Governments at all levels as well as all stakeholders that we will not relent in doing the good things that made the University to get this gigantic support, and we shall continue to focus on achieving the University’s vision and mission as planned by the founding fathers,” the VC said.

The ultra-modern Senate Building is scheduled to be completed within 76 weeks as announced by the   Minister of Education,  Malam Adamu Adamu after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

The iconic Senate building comprises a 500-capacity relaxation centre; 58 offices and one large store on the ground floor; 32 offices; two conference rooms; 250 capacity pavilion SENATE chamber on the first floor and 150 capacity Council Chamber; 12 executive offices; two executive conference rooms on the second floor and an attic that comprises all offices in the Vice-Chancellory including the Vice-Chancellor Office and Council Office. The building comes with all associated external works; full furnishing; two elevators, and electricity generating plant.

It would recalled that in the last quarter of 2022, the TETFUND also granted UNIOSUN funding for building the 500-Capacity Auditorium; Faculty of Computing as well as 500 and 600 capacity lecture theatres across UNIOSUN campuses.
