Umahi blast critics over alleged planned defection to PDP

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, has debunked insinuations in some quarters alluding to his alleged planned defection to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) insisting that it  was the handwork of mischief makers.

Umahi made the assertion in Abakaliki at the Government House Chapel  New Government House on the occasion of a Special Thanks-giving service organized  by the government to thank God for his mercies and protection of the  State.

He advised the people to imbibe the attitude of  appreciation to God for his mercies to humanity stating “count your blessings one by one and you will see what the Lord  has done for each and every one of us”

On the issue of projects, the Governor assured that he would complete all ongoing projects embarked upon by the administration before the end of his administration in 2023.

Speaking on the role of the opposition in democracy, Umahi maintained that the government welcomed constructive criticisms rather than destructive tendencies.

“Unfortunately in this State, what we have from members of the opposition is bitterness, rather than constructive criticism that will Ginger the government to make amends , opposition here resort to envy and bitterness”

He commended the clergy and all religious Leaders for their prayers stating that their support have contributed immensely to the development of the State.

The State Chief Executive used the occasion to announce the withholding of salaries of all medical personnel in the State until General Hospitals across the Local Government Areas were kept clean and tidy.

On the planned visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the State , Umahi reiterated that the trip would be undertaken in early 2022.

“I was in Paris and I told Mr President that the Leaders of the South-East zone will want to visit  him over the issue of peace in the region, I pleaded with him to postpone the visit till early next year, Mr President will come to the State when we want him to come”

The Special  thanksgiving Service had in attendance members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),led by the South-East Chairman of the Association Reverend Father Abraham Nwali , the clergy, the deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Francis Nwifuru, members of the State Elders  Council and members of the State Executive Council, among others.
