The Tortoise and The Hedgehog is a book written by Miss Victoria Segun-Arinze, a year two student of Imperial Gate School, Lekki in Lagos State.

The three chapters and thirty-six-page book which was written in 2020 teaches the need to be kind to others, not to treat others badly and avoid being jealous of people’s progress.

Published and printed in Nigeria by Great Company Publication Limited, in chapter one, the writer narrated how Andrew who was a kind person, tricked Randsom because of his rude nature and the way he insults people.

Upon realizing that he has been tricked, he angrily asked why, he was reminded of all the bad things he had been doing to other animals, yet there was no remorse.

Just because they want to teach Randsom a lesson, Winnie the wolf in chapter two came up with another trick at a party which was to put a container of biscuits in a kettle filled with boiling water in order to get an invisible biscuit. But disappointed after stealing the whole biscuit container, in his anger a slap between him and Andrew resulted in him losing his teeth.

In chapter three, which is the last chapter, Randsom who has been unhappy following the tricks, sought the assistance of Simon the tiger who promised him happiness and everything he wanted. Randsom challenged Andrew to a wrestling match with a price which he felt he would win, but unfortunately, he didn’t win.

On his birthday, Randsom organized a party and invited friends but none came to celebrate with him. This development made him to think deeply and embark on a peace mission. He later became a better person and happier in life.
